About

My name is Sharanya Ganguly and am currently pursuing Bachelors of Commerce/ Media & Communication from Macquarie University. I joined the WH&Y Commission to share my lived experiences and advocate for health concerns for the youth demographic.  However, along my journey over the years I have gained much more than what I had ever dreamt of; beginning with expanding my skillset, voicing my (and other adolescents) health concerns and ways of rectification, meeting and working hand in hand with many health professionals all whilst fostering lifelong friendships with like minded individuals.

Coming from a business background, particularly marketing, I am drawn to areas of research translation, conveying challenging concepts from health researchers to young people. As an individual having worked firsthand in the marketing industry, I have been interested in sharing all that we have achieved together as the WH&Y Commission with a larger audience to grow our social platform and network with people of power to make due changes in the system concerning adolescents health.

Events/Activities I have been a part of during my time at the WH&Y Commission:

  • An active member of the WH&Y social media team, helping young adults from all walks of life gain valuable health related information and be updated on all commission happenings.
  • Presented WH&Y’s social media strategy at the IAAH World Congress Forum alongside fellow commissioners.
  • Attending the monthly meetings and collaborating with researchers and commissioners alike in various projects.
