WH&Y Commissioner

Gerard-Lachlan Abadines

About

I’m 14 years old and I’m currently studying in high school, in Year 9. I’m from Western Sydney and I hope to bring more awareness of mental health and wellbeing into our student body.

I have been volunteering as a member of the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) at my local headspace for the past three years. Being a member of the YAC has helped me gain skills and experiences that I can use in my everyday life.

I joined the WH&Y Commission because I wanted to learn new skills and make a difference in my local community. I feel there isn’t enough focus on mental health and wellbeing in my school community, so through being in the WH&Y Commission I hope to gain experience that will help me raise awareness in that environment. I enjoy writing poems and stories, and drawing.
