About

Bright Opoku Ahinkorah is a PhD student at the University of Technology Sydney. His doctoral thesis focuses on the impact of policies and programmes for reducing adolescent pregnancy in Ghana. Using implementation science, he explored the knowledge and awareness of key stakeholders of policies and programmes aimed at reducing adolescent pregnancy in Ghana. He also explored the barriers and facilitators towards the implementation of policies and programmes on adolescent pregnancy in Ghana.

Apart from his PhD work, Bright has contributed massively to the area of adolescent sexual and reproductive health in his over 200 research publications. Most of his publications have focused on adolescent pregnancy, child marriage, women empowerment, intimate partner violence, use of contraceptives and inequality in healthcare access among adolescents.

Taking advantage of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, Bright has also published over ten articles on COVID-19, focusing on inequality in access to healthcare during the pandemic and inequality in the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.

Currently, Bright seeks to research the mental health challenges of adolescents and children born to adolescents. He seeks for collaboration on grants that aim at researching child and adolescent mental health problems, especially those in low-and middle-income countries.
