Hello! My name is Grace McGowan, I am 19 years of age and have just commenced my first year of tertiary studies as a Occupational Therapy student at Australian Catholic University (ACU) with the hope to become a paediatric OT post grad.
I possess a true passion for advocacy and personal lived experiences in chronic illness and disability. I believe that knowledge and insight is power and understand their importance when relating to healthcare.
Through my personal experiences, I have seen first hand how the system at its current state often lets young people down and I am very passionate in helping to create change and awareness on this topic. I became a WH&Y commissioner to allow my voice to be heard in making a difference and to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves, to make a proper change in a imperfect system and provide intrinsic insight and help to educate professionals and researchers on the matters effecting young people the most.
